Going Hiking

It was a perfect day for a hike up the mountain behind us. We just found out that they are going to start the next phase in our subdivision. So the trail that leads us up to the kids favorite "ROCK" is going to soon be a road. It's actually pretty far up to the rock. They have to go past the telephone polls and through a barb wire fence to get to it. There is also a little creek at the top that they think is way cool. Jackson and Dylan went almost all the way to the top of the mountain, but they thought they heard a rattle snake, so they came back down. We will be sad when its all houses, but for now it's fun to hike up and see the whole valley.

My darling sister in law, Annilee, you sure make me look like a bad blogger. So....... this one is for you girl. If your lucky I might even post another one by the end of the week:)

We did neighborhood fireworks this year for the first time. Our neighbor Jeff had connections in good old Wyoming, so we had the really GOOD kind. I am still amazed we evaded the cops. I had a box of glow sticks that the kids were making hand cuffs out of and arresting each other. And of course Hunter had the blasted innertube's out that she has been dragging around with her all summer........only Hunter:)

This is my most favorite time of the year......fall, and my most favorite holiday...Halloween. I have been wanting to post these pictures for a long time. I actually have had my house decorated since labor day.....I know, I am crazy, but I actually start thinking about putting it all out in August.........I just love it so much. I didn't take pictures of everything because I have things tucked in every nook and cranny. I didn't even put everything out this year because it was hard to find places to put everything. My old house seemed to have more place to decorate, even though this house is so much bigger. I kind of put these in order as you would see them as you walk in. Enjoy....

These are my Dept. 56 houses. I didn't put all of them out, because I dont have enough room. They all do something special. The one in the middle has lightning and thunder and flashes all kinds of cool stuff. Jada hates that one because it has a really creepy guy that laughs in it, and it scares her. My favorite is the windmill, it turns and has a really mysterious wind sound that accompanies it. They are an absolutely a no touch thing. My kids have always been good to leave my stuff alone, but these are really expensive, so they are forbidden to even turn them on.

Yes, I do a Halloween tree. I actually do one for all of the holidays, or the seasons. The bee tree that I do in the summer is my favorite.

This is my Kitty, and I put a flicker bulb inside of him so it looks like a candle is glowing in it.

I have been collecting little Halloween house forever, I think they are so much fun.

Tiara's Homecoming Dance

Brittny and I drove down to Pleasant View to watch Tiara dance during her High School half time. I have to apologize, I couldn't find her at first and so the camera went screwy, but I finally found her(in the back, on the far right side) and she did a beautiful job, we were so proud of her.....We love you T!!

Homecoming

Homecoming.......how would it be to be young again. Notice I changed the song to Forever Young. It was the theme for my senior year at Logan High School. The dances sure have changed since then. Now It is an all day thing, where you go somewhere fun during the day and then go to the dance at night. I do have to say I never got to go to a house as fancy as this one. All these pictures they took at her friend Mckay's house, where they ate dinner. This is also the same house they hang out at almost every weekend. Britt has such a great group of friends to hang out with, and Caden, well lets just say he's part of the family.........we love him to death!!

Mariah had the hardest time when we moved, but it was'nt long before she discovered the cutest bunch of girls ever. They love to just be crazy and giggle and do all the things we could go back and do again if we could. They love to get together at night and play night games. They sit in her room forever painting toenails and fingernails. It is so important to find good friends and I am so proud of her for choosing girls that come from good familys and have good standards. I never have to worry when they are together. What fun times they have to look forward to.....and don't forget...........boys will soon come into the picture.

First Vistaun performance of the year.....

The very first Sky View football game was friday night. They played against Freemont High School. They had it up at the Aggie Stadium and the Vistauns performed at half time. They did a dance that they learned at camp up at Bear Lake during the summer.........Brittny is in the dark blue shirt on the right side......It's kind of hard to see her, I need a better camera.

I just had to post these pictures of Mariah. I know I might be a little biased, but is'nt she beautiful? She did'nt even get ready, with the exception of having her hair done by my friend Allison. She has always been very photogenic, I don't think she has ever had a bad picture..........and by the way she did'nt get that from me.

Arrow Of Light.

Jackson worked so hard to earn his Arrow Of Light award. His Weebelos leader worked hard too, yeah that was me. He had to complete so many more requirements in the Weebelo program than he did in the previous years before. There were three other boys in his den that earned it at the same time......that was my doing. I thought it would be so cool if they got their arrow at the same time. We held pack meeting at Mack Park in Smithfield. We had an Indian come and present the Arrow Of Light, he even did an Indian dance for the boys.

Notice that my son has the most decorated shirt...........again that was me.

Jonathan and Jesslyn

We are so excited to have Jess in our family. She has been so much fun to get to know......Jonathan could not have picked a more vibrant and fun girl to be married to for time and all eternity. It was such a great experience to sit inside the sealing room at the temple and watch them be sealed together forever. I am so greatful that my own family is an eternal family.

For our temple anniversary, we took our kids down to temple square in Salt Lake City. I had'nt been there for over twenty years and had been wanting to go for a long time. So much had changed I could'nt believe it. We first went into the museum and got to see so much amazing stuff. They had a section for each president. Gordon B. Hinckley was my favorite. They had a picture of every temple he dedicated, his temple clothes and all kinds of stuff to represent the copious amounts of things he did for our church. The first floor of the museum was full of stuff from Joseph Smith. There was actual hand written manuscripts from when he translated the Book of Mormon, along with alot of personal artifacts.

My older girls loved looking at all the Book Of Mormons. They were in so many different languages. They especially loved the ones that went backwards.

They had a place that you could make these CTR images. Britt loved the ones in different languages. If you look close at the middle one it is in sign language.

This is my most favorite picture of all. Is'nt this where we want all of our kids to end up at....at Christ feet? I remember coming here as a little girl and it's amazing the reverence that you can feel here.

It was the perfect day to fly a kite. I snagged a dragon one from good old Walmart on the way home from work because it was so windy.....almost to windy, but the kids had fun. It's not every day you can walk out your front door and fly a kite without it getting caught in a tree or on the neighbors yard. They have started two more houses, one on the street below us and one just north of us, but across the street. We are dreading the day someone builds behind us or on the side of us. We have such a beautiful view of the valley, and having no one right next to us has been nice. It's so nice to walk out the front door and see the mountains and smell the fresh air. The other day we had the cutest little fox running up the mountain. I had never seen one so we sat and watched it till we could see it no more. Justin found a huge paw print in our yard that really concerned him. It was huge....his brothers say it is a dog, but I am nervous about a mountain lion, they have come down this far before. A lady in our ward had a Bobcat in her window sill last fall so I am always on the lookout for anything...paranoid for sure. The other day it rained and rained and when the sun finally came out we went out our front door and this is what we saw....beautiful....I swear we could have walked right over to it.

Dad was working hard to level out the yard in Grandpa Rolly's tractor. He would never admit it but I think he was having a blast driving it all around the yard.

I am not entirely sure what Jada was doing in this picture, but it was the only one I had of her so your guess is as good as mine.

Grandma's Easter Egg Hunt

Michelle (grandma) always goes beyond the call of duty at Easter time. Not only does she throw an egg hunt with candy for all the little kids, she adds a money hunt for all the older kids too. This is'nt just her grandkids, it's her nieces and nephews also, where she gets her ambition for this I'll never know. Obviously I'm not a huge Easter fan. It seems like the whole idea of what Easter is about has been forgotten, kind of sad really. The weather held out for the day and it was so good to see the sun and watch the kids have fun.

Painting Eggs.......Our first time painting eggs in our new house. I thought for sure that Mariah was getting to old for it, but she insisted on doing some. She spent the most time on hers and actually was quite creative. I think Hunter had hers all done in less than 5 minutes and I had to encourage her to redo them so she did'nt insist on me cooking some more. Jackson of course tried to do his as funny as possible and Jada sat quietly and worked on hers without making a sound.

Vistaun Banquet

I cant' believe the year is almost over, and it's time to say goodbye to all the girls on the team. We got together at Hamiltons for a really nice dinner. The girls were all so cute with each other, it was fun to see the different personalities that the girls had. Some were shy and quiet and some ( like Britt) were really rowdy. After dinner we had a slide show and got to see all the different things that were behind the scenes that the parents never knew about. Come to find out there was a trio of mice that lived under the bleachers in the gym where they practiced. Britt told me that they fed them every day and they had names for each of them.....disgusting. Britt has decided to not try out for next year, it was alot of hard work and she want's to focus on her grades...I think deep down she will miss it, but we are so proud of her accomplishments this year....Way to go Brittny.

Valentines Dance.....

Brittny asked her favorite man of the hour, Caden Sorensen, to the Sweethearts dance at Sky View. She looked just like a princess, so grown up, I can hardly believe it. Since she was the one to do the asking, she also had to do the driving. Her dress was so big, I had to help her into the back of Dad's truck. Then we drove over to his house to get him...thank goodness he lives just down the street, she litterally had to lie down in the back. They went as a group and Kesley and Josh came to the house to pick them up at our house. The girls were beautiful of course, Oh, those dances I remember all to well.....fun times.

Snow Day

Everytime we have drove out to Richmond the kids have noticed everyone on the infamous North Cache Hill sledding. So we took the kids out for a cold day of sledding and when I say cold I mean cold. I could'nt feel my feet after standing there watching them have fun. I guess I should have went sledding too, because when they were done and I took Hunter's hat off, she was dripping wet with sweat, yuck! I guess it's hard work bringing the sleds up the hill.

Okay, I am officially the worlds worst blogger. How do all you Moms create so many new posts? Hhhhhmmm.......let's see, maybe you don't work full time and have five kids........or maybe you do and have nothing better to do than to make me feel like a slacker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to post these pictures of Jackson......but first let me tell you why this is so funny. Jackson has always had issues with wearing pajamas to bed. The past few years he has just paraded around the house in a pair of boxers, and we have begged him to put on p.j's. Well, since we have moved into the house, all of the sudden he wants to wear pajama bottoms. Well tonight he could'nt find any, imagine that, and so I told him just to put on a pair of pants until bedtime. A few minutes later he came in and said "Mom these pants are getting way to small for me" and I looked at him and started laughing and said "that's because they are Hunters!" Can you believe a 10 year old boy fit into his little sisters size 6x slim pants? And they actually fit around the waist!

Trick or Treat

Trick or treating was fun for the girls, we went out to Richmond to the old neighborhood and went with our friends. The weather was perfect and the girls did'nt even need a jacket. It was the best weather I had seen on Halloween in a long time. Jackson went as himself and I was'nt quick enough to catch him and his gang before they took off for the night, so he is missing in action for the Halloween photo's

Oh a pumpkin is a pumpkin.........

Today we went to the Pumpkin Walk in North Logan. Aunt Heidi came over from Malad with her darling kids and Mariah had Ashlee come with us too. They had some really creative ideas this year, but the kids favorite thing to do is put their heads through the painted pictures at the end of the walk. Clifford was just the right size for everyone to find a place!!!!!!!!!

Well we finally did it! We sold our house in Richmond and bought this house in Smithfield.

First Day of School

Jada was allready to go the night before with her outfit all layed out. She was so excited to get back into the swing of things. She was a little nervous about her teacher, but I think she'll have a great year!!

Mariah and Ashlee spent the morning getting ready together, of course!! They had allready been down to school and got their lockers all ready for the big debut the week before so now all they had to do is look glamorous!!!!!!!!!

Hunter I just have to say that you were so excited, I did'nt think that the minute to leave would have came quick enough. Every five seconds you would ask if it was time to go. It was such a happy day for you until you found out that you did'nt get to sit in the front seat, so of course I have to display your angry face!!!!

Jackson I could'nt even catch before to get a picture, but he did'nt evade me at the school. I even managed to get a quick snap of him and all of his gang!!

Griffin Family Bear Lake Trip 2008

August 2008

It was time once again for the annual trip to Bear Lake. This time we stayed in a cabin in Lake Town which was really close to the beach. We spent all day on Saturday down at the beach and it was so fun to sit and watch the kids have fun in the water and in the sand.

All of the kids worked so hard to dig this crater and let it fill up with water. I bet that is where they spent most of the day, digging and having fun with the cousins!

Well it's official. I am learning how to blog with Brittny as my coach. So to all of you that have been pestering me to learn, here it goes. Below I am posting some random pic's of my kids, and I'll tell a little about each of them.

Brittny, 15

Britt, my crazy and wild girl. She loves to dance and recently made the Sky View drill team, a.k.a Vistauns! She loves hanging out with her friends who are so absolutely darling. They love to be obnoxious and just have a great time.

Mariah, 11

Mariah is my in charge girl. She like to be the boss of everyone in the house. She is my best babysitter and I depend a lot on her. She loves to hang out with her best friend Ashlee, play Webkins on the computer and ride her bike.

Jackson, 10

Jackson, my one and only son. He is my little gymnast. He love to jump on the tramp and can do the most amazing things on it. He love to play his PS2 and hang out with his friends. He also love to ride his skateboard and bike.

Jada, 7

Jada is almost eight and will be getting baptized in October. She loves to play Webkins on the computer, and frequently visits Grandma's Corner Bakery to buy treats with the random change she seems to find in the house!

Hunter, 5

Hunter, last but definitely not least. She is my toothless wonder, who never stops for a second. She love to play with anyone she can find no matter how old or young they are. She loves to ride her scooter and just learned how to ride her bike without training wheels, which she figured out all by herself!
